MISS SLEEP EASY WINS 2009 PET IDOL CONTEST

Our fourth annual Pet Idol contest is now in the history books. In the past we have had feline and canine winners, but this year is a first. Our winner is a 12 year old registered Black Angus cow. Miss Sleep Easy walked away with our contest this year  by more than 500 votes over our second place animal.

Miss Sleep Easy is owned by Danny & Debbie Burris of Columbia, KY. She is an intergral part of their herd and has added several calves to their farm during her life. She was actually expecting during our contest and shortly after the contest ended  she produced another fine heifer calf for the Burris herd.

Our second place finisher was Jelly Bean , a feline owned by Evelyn & Emma Moore. Third place was  Katie, a dog owned by Laronda Perkins. The contest raised over $2150.00 for the shelter. Proceeds have already been used to purchase a new digital camera used to place our animals on the internet and a new pressure washer for cleaning runs. All monies raised by the Pet Idol contests are used strictly for the shelter and it's animals.

Work is underway to produce our 2010 Pet Idol calendar. Hoepfully it will be available by early December. Calendars will be available at the shelter.
